The Reimagined Lockwood

The Brief

Situated on a sloping bush-clad site in Pāuatahanui, this existing Lockwood home no longer suited the family’s needs. The brief was to extend and modernise the dwelling while retaining elements of the original home, creating additional living space, improving the entry, and capturing the surrounding landscape and views.

How we elevated the home

The project introduced a significant extension and a contemporary material palette to transform the appearance and functionality of the home. The renovation created new living spaces, additional bedrooms and improved indoor–outdoor flow while maintaining part of the original Lockwood structure. Carefully positioned glazing and outdoor areas maximise natural light and take advantage of the surrounding bush setting and inlet views. The result is a home that feels modern and spacious while still respecting the character of the original dwelling.
